The principal lecturers in this course are major participants in a large project (The University Consortium Solvents-in-Groundwater Research Program) initiated in 1988. This program, focusing on DNAPLs in fractured media, is funded by six major corporations with additional contributions to fractured media research from various government agencies. Cherry and Parker currently hold a major research grant from the Canadian Government for research on chlorinated solvents in fractured rock and conduct this research at more than 12 research sites across North America.
